My guess is they were short on staff and overwhelmed with the crowd. It's well worth the time and trouble to get there, but just a heads up. The Whitestone Inn is off the beaten path. Went to the Whitestone Inn as part of a package to see our favorite Southern Gospel singer. Unless the issues with maintenance and staff problems are corrected, I would not recommend this as a venue for a wedding or other event. I am giving this review a two, only because of the beautiful views. This was primarily due to a lack of communication and responsiveness by the owner. A couple of other guests had similar issues with check-in.įollowing the wedding it took several months to resolve the identified issues and to get some money refunded. However at the time of check-in, she was told everything was correct and they had her payment on record. Two days after the wedding, one of our guests was contacted late in the evening stating she had not paid for her room. She refused to let the DJ have a karaoke machine set-up - she said it wasn’t necessary. The wedding coordinator stated she had another wedding (her private catering job) the next day and she needed to get out to get ready for it. Guests felt like they were being rushed to leave. Following the wedding ceremony, guests were rushed to leave the chapel and go to the reception area by the wedding coordinator (don’t speak to the bride and groom right now- so pictures can be taken). She told the bridal party they needed to start cleaning up from the reception two hours prior to the paid for time. The wedding coordinator looked to be a real asset when we met with her prior to the wedding date, however she was rude to guests and the bridal party most of the wedding day. One of the guest rooms was not ready for occupancy prior to the wedding, preventing the guests from being able to change for the wedding. We could get towels, but no cleaning of rooms or making of beds would be done (lack of staff). We were informed there was no maid/housekeeping service available during our stay. Another room had the closet being used as storage for cleaning supplies and equipment for the maid service. One room could not use the jacuzzi tub - signs on it. A similar leak from the ceiling into the breakfast area the next day was also noted. Another guests room had water coming down from the ceiling into their room. One of the rooms had the toilet constantly backing up (solution by staff - just use another room’s bathroom), the brides room (bridal suite) had no air conditioning either day making it extremely uncomfortable. One individual fell going up the steps to the lot due to the poor conditions. The railing on the steps from the chapel/parking lot to the reception area was loose and coming apart. ![]() A service to transport individuals up the hill via golf cart was paid for and never received. There are stairs provided to walk up, however the condition of them (wobbly, etc) made you uneasy to use them and guests felt it was unsafe to use. The reception area is on a hill that is also extremely steep. Most have stairs that are steep and not easily traversed by older patrons. None of the rooms are handicap accessible in at least three of the suite areas. The weekend of the wedding the problems continued. Many of the items and services that my daughter was told were available by first coordinator, turned out not to be provided by the site. A second coordinator was brought in and the situation was corrected. Prior to the wedding this year, the coordinator quit and all of her information including. Due to COVID, she had to postpone the date one year. My daughter had her wedding here in July and it was nothing but a comedy of errors and problems. American Restaurants for Lunch in Kingston. ![]()
